Vice President Product, UX and Industrial Design
Basak leads Product Strategy, Product Management, UX and Industrial Design, User research and Prototype Engineering at Motional. In her role, she helps ensure the company's R&D efforts are driven with user and market needs, with an emphasis on end to end product life cycle strategy.
Basak has been at the forefront of innovation in the mobility space as Chief Product Officer and / or co-founder of several industry shaping companies. Some of her prior companies that made notable exits: Tele Atlas, a leading digital mapping company, which was acquired by TomTom; Quattro Wireless, a mobile data platform, acquired by Apple, and Here Technologies, digital mapping company acquired by BMW/Audi consortium. Basak began her career as an engineer developing sensors for the automotive world at Honeywell, and later ran a business unit, before diving into the startup world.
She is an advisor to MIT's Martin Trust Center of Entrepreneurship, and has mentored numerous technology start-ups in product development, with a keen interest in helping women succeed in building mobility technologies.
She is a graduate of Istanbul Technical University, Electrical and Electronics Engineering department, and completed her MBA at MSU.
